Mini Lid Banjo Instrument

Play along to your favourite Jeremy and Jazzy song with your very own mini banjo!

Instructions

Gather your materials: a medium to large jar lid; several elastic bands (different sizes); glue; a thick wooden popsicle stick; and markers or stickers.

To make a four-string banjo, find a lid big enough to fit four elastic bands around it.  The size and thickness of the band will determine what kind of sound it makes!  Kids can experiment to get a banjo ‘body’ that makes sounds they like.

The popsicle stick is the banjo neck.  Kids can decorate this with markers, stickers, or anything else they want to make their banjo their own.

After choosing the elastics and decorating the stick, glue the stick to the back of the lid so the stick is aligned with the elastics and they are both pointing in the same direction. Let the glue dry.

Ta-da!  A mini banjo!  Kids can dance and strum along with Jeremy and Jazzy or make music of their own.
